The wheels are finally in motion in the development of seven bedsitting rooms at The HUB on Merrymeeting Road.
That’s according to Executive Director Tom Badcock, who said after the project was brought up at the City of St. John’s Committee of the Whole meeting, it seems the process is finally underway.
The development will see the organization convert vacant office space into seven bedsitting rooms, a common area and shared bathroom, and laundry and a kitchen.
In October, Badcock expressed frustration with a lack of movement on the side of the provincial and federal governments.
He says the next step is for the city to hold a public hearing and get approval.
He says now that they know the city will move ahead, it’s on the province to provide funding so they can get people in as quickly as possible.
