Memorial University is remaining tight-lipped on whether or not they shelled out ransom money to the hackers responsible for a cyberattack at Grenfell Campus.
The university confirmed that the IT attack, which was detected on December 29, was a ransomware breach by a third party group.
Interim President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Neil Bose, says they cannot say how much money was paid in ransom or if there was a payment made at all.
As far as they’re aware, no personal information has been compromised.
Bose says they’re confident they haven’t lost anything from their system, but experts are working to get things back on track. The process of getting all systems restored is expected to be a lengthy one.
