It’s looking like a messy start to the work week for eastern Newfoundland.
Environment Canada have issued a winter storm watch for the eastern half of the island, with 15 to 25 cm set to hit the Avalon, Burin, Connaigra, Bonavista and Clarenville areas, paired with winds of 60 to 70 km/h.
Meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, Erica Ranger, says the adverse weather will start Monday morning, but the drive home will be more trouble than the drive in.
She says some lighter snow will begin Monday morning, with heavier snowfall expected for the afternoon and evening. Winds will gradually increase throughout the day, blowing the fresh powder and limiting visibility. Conditions will improve overnight.
