The capital city has ramped up its efforts to ensure clear sidewalks during the winter months.
Snow covered, impassable sidewalks has been a common complaint from residents over the years—something the city says they’ve taken into account and have been working to improve.
Councillor Jamie Korab says they’ve replaced some aging equipment and hired additional staff to work overnight shifts, allowing them to have near round-the-clock snowclearing.
He says the aim is to have sidewalks cleared within five days of any significant snowfall, with the main focus on high-traffic areas.
Korab says clearing within 300m of all schools and deploying crews to tackle sidewalks along main arterials such as Kenmount Road takes top priority.
