The province has been given a failing grade for the amount of red tape for small businesses, something which comes as no surprise for PC Leader Tony Wakeham.
The CFIB’s 2023 report card, released last week, gives the province an F, with a score of 4.4 out of 10.
Newfoundland and Labrador is the only province across the country to score below a C grade.
Wakeham accuses government of doing “nothing” to reduce regularotry burdens for businesses, noting that the issue was raised numerous times during interviews conducted in the leadup to the 2020 Mills Report.
Wakeham says the results of the report should be “alarming” to everyone in the province noting that he has been hearing the concerns from the business community for many years.
