The federal government is phasing out its Wellness Together mental health program, and that is leading a local psychologist to ask what’s next.
The program was launched in 2020 to fill urgent and acute needs for mental health supports during the COVID pandemic.
Now that the emergency phase of the pandemic is in the rear view, the feds have announced that they will be transitioning away from Wellness Together as of April 3, with all resources being centralized on one webpage.
Dr. Janine Hubbard says many people have found Wellness Together to be an incredibly useful resource.
She says the program was put in place as a stop-gap emergency measure, but if it is going to be removed, what will replace it?
She says they need to look at the parts of Wellness Together that people were still finding useful, and how those can be replaced in a different format.
