This is National Heritage Week, and Heritage NL is kicking things off by revealing the winners of their annual heritage places poster contest.
About 1000 entries were received from schools across the province, with the overall winning submission going to Sidney strong, a grade 11 student at Southwest Arm Academy in Little Heart’s Ease.

Winning submissions at other grade levels: Primary – Savannah Hall, Grade 3, Holy Trinity Elementary, Torbay; Elementary – Emersyn Greenham, Grade 5, Twillingate Island Elementary, Twillingate; and Junior High – Sophie Strugnell, Grade 9, St. Lewis Academy, St. Lewis.
The regional winners: Avalon – Seth Morgan, Grade 6, Mary Queen of Peace School, St. John’s; Eastern – Alicia Dalton, Grade 10, Discovery Collegiate, Bonavista; Central – Ciara Harnett, Grade 9, Fogo Island Central Academy, Fogo Island; Western – Kailyn Payne, Grade 4, Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Corner Brook; and Labrador – Ali Elson, Grade 8, Henry Gordon Academy, Cartwright.
