The construction industry is beginning to find ways to use artificial intelligence in their work, but the industry is still “a little bit scared of it,” according to one expert.
Craig Hurst is the Director of Client Success at The Net Effect, and he recently gave a presentation at the Build 2024 Expo.
He says there are a lot of people that think AI is “like cheating,” and because of that there are a lot of people that are hesitant to use it.
However, he says there are also people who are embracing the technology and its potential.
Generally, Hurst explains that the construction industry is very slow to adopt new technologies, and as such the rate of usage remains low.
However, He says there are ways in which AI can be used to their advantage—such as by predicting equipment failures.
He says many equipment failures are due to a lack of human attention. AI predictability can tell people when a part needs to be serviced or replaced.
