A number of local mental health and addictions services are under review with the aim to address any existing issues with wait times, length of stay, discharge practices and reintegration.
The provincial government is providing $100,000 to hire an outside agency to review best practices at a number of facilities, including the Grace Centre in Harbour Grace, the Recovery Centre in St. John’s, the Hope Valley Youth Treatment Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, and Humberwood Treatment Centre in Corner Brook.
The agency will analyse operations at each location and offer recommendations on the delivery of services and treatment.
A call for proposals will be issued by the health authority. The review is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
