Police say a man accused of impaired driving causing death has been caught behind the wheel while suspended from driving.
Thirty-eight-year-old Rod Constantine was charged in March with impaired driving causing death and bodily harm, as well as dangerous driving causing death and bodily harm following a fatal crash late last year.
It happened just before 6 a.m. on December 10 when a car went out of control and slammed into a residence at the corner of Empire Avenue and Graves Street in St. John’s.
A 32-year-old male passenger was killed and two others suffered serious injuries.
Constantine appeared in court in March and was released while his case makes its way through the courts, after promising to abide by numerous conditions, including not to drive.
But police allege he broke that promise after being pulled over and arrested on Tuesday.
Constantine is now back in custody awaiting another bail hearing, while facing an additional charge of unlawfully operating a vehicle while holding a suspended or cancelled driver’s licence.
He’s due back in court on the other charges on June 28.
