A local dog sport association is taking action to promote responsible dog ownership – and help clean up walking trails.
The Newfoundland Athletic Dog Association (NADA), a St. John’s-based non-for-profit dog sports club, organized a couple of community walks dubbed ‘Adopt a Poop.’
Participants stooped and scooped along the way, picking up poop left behind by less responsible dog owners.
More than 150 poops were picked up along the Manuel’s Trail on Monday. Today, ten people are joining the effort to clean up even more dog waste along Southland’s Walking Trails .
NADA President Jennifer Clarke says complaints about dog waste left on trails has been an issue for some time.
She says part of the goal of their Adopt a Poop walks is to make a positive impression on other dog owners, while cleaning up the environment.
