MHA Lela Evans had nothing but positive things to say about NDP leader Jim Dinn as she leaves the party to rejoin the PCs.
Evans announced yesterday that she has rejoined the PC caucus, bringing the NDP down to just two seats in the legislature.
Evans says she has a lot of respect for Dinn, and the decision to cross the floor is not about him or his leadership.
She calls Dinn a “very decent person,” but ultimately that is not enough for her to stay. Evans doesn’t feel she can grow with the NDP. “There’s a role for the NDP at the provincial level—it’s just not with me.”
Evans informed Dinn of her decision in person yesterday morning, just before it was announced publicly.
When asked for his reaction to Evans’ decision, he said that he has “had better days with better news.”
Dinn says it was a surprise, but he wishes Evans well.
