People looking to beat the heat with a dip in a pool at the Summit Centre in Mount Pearl are out of luck.
The city announced today that both pools will be out of commission for the next couple of weeks due to an incident involving broken glass — namely a bottle that smashed on the pool deck.

The city says it will take two weeks to drain, clean and refill both pools, affecting swimming lessons and other activities.
In a follow-up statement, the city reminded Summit users of the rules in place to avoid such incidents.
“While this event was accidental in nature, we would like to take this opportunity to remind our residents and patrons of the pool rules and that glass bottles are not permitted on the pool deck.”
Officials say they’ll post an update as soon as the pools reopen.
