Airline travel to and from Labrador was on the agenda as Lake Melville MHA met with representatives of PAL Airlines.
Transportation Minister Fred Hutton and area MHAs Lisa Dempster and Krista Lynn Howell also joined the meeting, all of whom have heard from their constituents about issues faced with air travel.
Perry Trimper says customer service was top of mind as they met with corporate officials from PAL in St. John’s yesterday.
He says they discussed the need for better communication with the travelling public, and the airline’s approach to expanding and tightening up its flight interruption team. As a result, he says it’s important that travellers make sure that they’re email contact information is up-to-date.
Meanwhile the NDP MHA for Labrador West says action must be taken to make intra-provincial travel affordable and accessible.
Jordan Brown is calling on the provincial government to start focusing on how to make travel within the province easier for all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
Brown says regular, reliable air service is not just a convenience, but helps to develop business opportunities and recruitment for hard to fill jobs in Labrador.
