The Soccer Association’s inaugural NL Cup Championships are being played this Sunday at King George V Pitch in St. John’s.
The Challenge Cup Division Fieldians will take on the Intermediate 1949C for the NL Cup.
The contest is a single-elimination tournament styled after the FA Cup in the UK which allows teams from different divisions to play against each other, without having to commit to a league for a full season.
This year’s NL Cup featured teams from Intermediate to Master’s and Challenge Cup from St. John’s, Portugal Cove-St. Phillips, St. Lawrence, Corner Brook and Stephenville.
Member of the NL Soccer Association’s Competitions Committee, Patrick Hickey says the first season brought some excellent football to different parts of the province and they’re looking forward to an exciting match on Sunday at 5 p.m.
