A new sports management company founded by a young duo from Newfoundland and Labrador is looking to work with up and coming athletes to further their athletic careers.
Fifty & Two Sports Management Inc. was created by Michael Williams of St. John’s and Brian Kennedy of Outer Cove. The two have a burning passion for sports, having been involved for their entire lives.
Fifty & Two launched on Friday, specializing in representing high school-aged athletes, with a focus on contacting universities and private schools, locating potential scholarship opportunities on behalf of the young athletes.
Speaking on the Monday Night Sports Show with Ben Murphy, Williams says they want to work with athletes across all sports and all levels. He says they’re not just seeking athletes looking to go professional.
Williams and Kennedy wish to use their scouting knowledge to monitor their development and play in games, while working with them to approach their next step—whether it be prep school or a scholarship for university.
Kennedy says people don’t always reach their full potential on the island, and they want to help athletes find more opportunities without necessarily having to leave their home province.
However, should an athlete want to pursue their career out of Newfoundland and Labrador, the pair say they’ll use their experience to help provide a platform for athletes to reach different organizations and teams.
