A man who has had a number of serious run-ins with the law was arrested by RCMP in Clarke’s Beach yesterday afternoon as the result of an armed robbery reported earlier that day.
Police were called around 1:00 a.m. after 27-year-old Jesse Lewis allegedly entered a home and threatened the people inside with a firearm, demanding money.
There were no injuries, and Lewis fled the scene with a quantity of cash. Lewis and the occupants were known to each other.
Yesterday, police were informed that Lewis had returned to the unoccupied home. Police contained the area and notified neighbouring residents. Following some negotiation, Lewis eventually surrendered to police and he was arrested without incident.
Lewis is facing charges of armed robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose uttering threats to property and numerous weapons-related charges.
He’s also facing separate charges related to incidents earlier in the week including driving while prohibited, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, intimidation, mischief and breach of probation.
