Canada Post has presented CUP-W with a new framework it hopes will achieve a negotiated settlement to the postal strike, now entering its third week.
Mediated talks were suspended last week after Steven MacKinnon, the federally-appointed mediator, expressed frustration that the two sides were too far apart.
Canada Post yesterday presented the union with what it calls a “comprehensive framework for reaching negotiated agreements.” It says the new framework includes what it considers to be greater flexibility in the delivery model and movement “on other key issues.”
Canada Post says it is hopeful that the proposals will reignite discussions and achieve a mediated final agreement.
