There are no tax increases for residents of Corner Brook but there will be a small increase in water rates in 2025.

The city tabled its budget earlier this evening.

The $41.9 million budget – a 6.9 per cent increase over last year – includes nearly $6 million dollars allotted for the city’s recreation department according to Mayor Jim Parsons.

“It’s a huge sea change in how we’re approaching recreation, we’ve really rejigged that whole department. It’s not just to incorporate our new rec center, but to look at our community wellness as a whole. So it’s a big investment, but I think it’ll pay off in the long run,” he said.
