Premier Andrew Furey’s victory lap continued yesterday with trips to Churchill Falls and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Furey told a crowd inside a high school gymnasium that the big land will be the “heart and soul,” of this province for years to come.
Premier Furey is extolling the virtues of the power deal with Quebec calling for the construction of four megaprojects, all in Labrador, and a new cost-sharing formula for electricity from the Upper Churchill.
While in Churchill Falls, he said that the deal leaves plenty of room for untapped potential in the region.
“There is so much further untapped potential here on the Churchill River, starting with this incredible asset and how we can grow it, how we can add a new power generating facility here on the Smallwood Reservoir, how we can upgrade the existing turbines,” he said.
It’s great to be in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Churchill Falls to talk about our new Churchill Falls deal. Labrador’s people and resources are at the heart of this historic deal, and it will bring opportunities that will transform the Big Land and strengthen our entire province. pic.twitter.com/LdHA5gtx0V
