A 60-year-old St. John’s man has been arrested and charged as the result of a stabbing in St. Alban’s on the weekend.
First responders got the call shortly before 3:00 Sunday afternoon. The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor for treatment.
The victim identified the suspect who was located, intoxicated, at a local business.
When police arrived and informed Samuel Parkinson of his arrest, he threw a number of items at the officers and refused to go willingly.
A taser had to be used, and Parkinson was taken into custody without further incident. It turns out that Parkinson was on the run from RNC in St. John’s and wanted for escaping lawful custody on November 28.
Parole was revoked and Parkinson is now charged with aggravated assault, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, uttering threats, robbery with an offensive weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The investigation is continuing. Parkinson is due to appear in court at a later date.
