The leader of the Conservative Party of Canada says voters in Newfoundland and Labrador have only two choices in the next federal election: a vote for the Liberals and NDP, or a vote for his party.
Pierre Poilievre says the biggest driver of inflation in Canada is Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. So far, the NDP has sided with the Liberals on every non-confidence vote but has signaled it may no longer do so on the next one, which is expected in January.
Poilievre says he has a plan to help address the country’s ballooning deficit, which surpassed $61 billion in the fall economic statement.
He says a Conservative government would “cut the consultants, cut foreign aid, cut off the ‘corporate welfare’ and bring in a dollar-for-dollar law that requires my government fund one dollar of savings for every new dollar spent. Only then,” says Poilievre, “can we bring down deficits, inflation and interest rates.”
