Saying he hopes that this represents the ‘last page” in the war in Gaza, the Prime Minister of Qatar has announced a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas that will see the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abudulrahman Al Thani made the announcement earlier today through an English translator.
“We give thanks to Allah for bringing us to this moment today, and hopefully, this will be the last page in the days of the war” Al Thani told reporters.
The new deal will come into effect on Sunday, on the eve of the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.
The ceasefire deal has been approved which will see the exchange of 33 Israeli hostages for Palestinians held by Israel.

Outgoing US President Joe Biden is calling the ceasefire, a deal first proposed by the US in May, will see a permanent end to the war in Gaza, starting in a series of phases.
First, the hostages and remains will be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and aid will be able to pour into Gaza.
“During the next six weeks, Israel will negotiate the necessary arrangements for phase 2, which is a permanent end of the war, let me say that again, a permanent end of the war.” He says “the plan says if negotiations take longer than six weeks, the ceasefire will continue, as long as negotiations continue.”
The details of the final agreement will be released in the coming days.
