The Department of Justice has confirmed the sudden death of an inmate at HMP.
According to officials, a 33-year-old man died today at the penitentiary.

It’s the latest tragic incident in local corrections facilities. Over the course of a year-long period, four people died while incarcerated in Newfoundland and Labrador, prompting an independent review.
In August, the family of Skye Martin launched a lawsuit against the provincial government in connection with Martin’s death at the Correctional Centre for Women in Clarenville. Then, in September, a statement of claim was filed in connection with the death of Douglas Neary at HMP on August 31, 2017.
