A Butlerville man who is moving onto the elimination round on Canada’s Got Talent admits to being so nervous during his performance, he nearly passed out.
Jacob Lewis’ rendition of Bon Jovi’s Bed of Roses so impressed the show’s judges, he received the golden buzzer from Shania Twain and is a step closer to the show’s million-dollar top prize.
Lewis says he often sings with his eyes closed and didn’t fully understand how his performance was being received until he finally opened them and noticed the judges and audience standing up.
That’s when he feared he might pass out.
“Now I don’t know if it was just because I was standing in one spot for a duration of time,” or if it was because he saw everyone standing up so early in his performance, but “I saw little dots…the thought in my mind was ‘don’t pass out, the last thing I want now on national television is myself hitting the floor.'”
Lewis now moves on to the elimination round.
“Preparation for that is ongoing, so that’s hard work,” says Lewis, but he’s looking forward to it.
