The provincial government has sent out the first invitations under its new expression of interest model for economic immigration.
The new model was first introduced in February as part of the province’s response to Ottawa cutting immigration numbers.
A total of 256 people have been selected through two immigration streams.
All of the selected applicants have full-time job offers for a position that responds to a specific labour market demand.
They have now been informed that they can apply for a nomination or endorsement through the programs.
Government calls the invitations a milestone in implementing a more streamlined immigration process.
