Comparing the Waterford Hospital to the new mental health and addictions facility is like comparing “a horse and buggy (to) a Lamborghini” according to the Premier.
Andrew Furey and NLHS CEO Pat Parfrey cut the ribbon on the facility yesterday, officially marking the end of a project that was years in the making.
Furey says seeing the project pass the finish line is a big check mark for his political career.
He gives credit to former Premier Dwight Ball for initiating the project, and notes that it has been an honour for him to get it through. Furey says it was one of the first files that was on his desk, and it has given him a big of closure—both as Premier and as a physician—to see the project finished.
