Burin Peninsula RCMP have arrested a 72-year-old man on a charge of driving while prohibited.
Police received a report that Alvin Roff of Mortier, who was prohibited from driving due to a previous impaired driving conviction, had been seen behind the wheel.
Police were on their way to Roff’s home to investigate the complaint when a vehicle pulled into the driveway and he stepped out of the driver’s side door.
RCMP, who arrested him for driving while prohibited, noticed signs of impairment. Police say Roff refused to provide a roadside breath sample, and his vehicle was seized and impounded.
He has been charged with prohibited driving and refusing to provide a breath sample, and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
