The province is giving nearly $150,000 to the Royal St. John’s Regatta to upgrade the docks and to put off a concert ahead of race day at Quidi Vidi.
The President of the Regatta, Ashley Peach, says the aging docks have long been a priority. Given the popularity and tradition of the event, it’s become increasingly important to improve the marine infrastructure, she says.
The announcement comes with the unveiling of new Year of Sport medals for the 207th rowing.
Race day is slated for the last Wednesday in July, to accommodate the Canada Games in August.
