A new survey from Narrative Research indicates that people across the country believe the issue of spam phone calls and texts is getting worse and not better.
COO Margaret Chapman says most respondents believe they are receiving the same amount, or more, of spam to their phones, and “very few” say the problem is getting better.
Chapman says there are a variety of organizations that people want to take action, from federal government agencies to the police, but at the top of the list are telecom providers themselves.
She says she has seen some movement on that front in recent weeks, with telecom companies introducing new tech to help combat spam.
That said, Chapman also encourages vigilance on a personal level.
She says the use of AI has made such messages harder to detect, which is why people need to “think twice” when they get a message they were not expecting.
