A Newfoundland actor and comedian says a new statue unveiled in Grand Falls-Windsor in memory of the late Gordon Pinsent “couldn’t be more perfect” in its depiction.
Pinsent passed away two years ago at the age of 92.
Over the weekend, during annual Salmon Fest celebrations, Pinsent’s hometown honoured him with a statue of him sitting on a bench.
Pinsent’s friend and fellow actor Mark Critch was in attendance.
Critch says he loves the pose of the statue, where people can sit next to it as if they’re having a conversation with Pinsent.
He says it looks as if Pinsent is either telling someone a story, or is hearing someone else’s story so he can turn it into a movie or film. Critch says that’s who Pinsent was, a “man of the people.”
