The cause of a fire that all but destroyed the Mushuau Innu First Nation Band Council Office in Nathuashish last night is under investigation.

Patrol officers spotted smoke coming from the building just after 3:00 this morning.

Officers immediately called for assistance from the local fire department and while there were no injuries reported, the building is significantly damaged.

There has been a significant fire at the Mushuau Innu First Nation band council office, not long after the results of their election became public.

Video posted to social media shows a section of the building fully engulfed in flame, and other areas completely destroyed.
