The Mayor of Minneapolis didn’t mince his words in flatly denying that the fatal shooting of a woman by ICE agents was in self-defense.
Jacob Frey held a news conference in the Minnesota capital after the woman was shot in the head by ICE -U.S. Immigrant and Customs Enforcement – agents while driving a van.
A visibly angered Frey spoke to reporters today and was clear that ICE is not welcome in his city.
“To ICE, get the f*** out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite.”
Minneapolis police chief Brian O’Hara says there is nothing to indicate that the woman in question was the target of any law enforcement investigation or activity.
“This woman was in her car, and it appears then blocking the street because of the presence of federal law enforcement, which is obviously something that has been happening, not just in Minneapolis, but around the country. She appears to be a middle-aged white woman.”
U.S. Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlan claimed that the woman in question attacked ICE officers.
Mayor Frey says the suggestion that the woman was shot in self-defense is wrong.
“The narrative that this was just done in self-defense is a garbage narrative. That is not true. It has no truth.”
