Memorial University’s decision to shut down its decades-old Harlow Campus is being met with great sadness in the U.K.
Harlow town councillor Jake Shepherd recently expressed his support for Memorial University’s presence in the town and the many cultural connections – and friendships – that have been made along the way.
He calls the news disappointing, but says the motion made in council was to signify the friendship and passion for the links made over the years. “Words alone couldn’t change the financial situation, or the financial reality. Despite this news about the campus, what I’m confident in is the friendships, and that spirit of friendship won’t change just because the campus will.”
