Heritage NL has announced the winners of this year’s Heritage Places Poster Contest.
The annual initiative, now in its 21st year, invites children in the K-12 system to create pictures of heritage places around the province.
This year, 740 entries were received from 40 schools.
The overall winning submission for 2026 is a picture of the Glynmill Inn, which is located in Corner Brook. It was drawn by Spriha Biswas – a grade seven student at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in the west coast city.
Winning submissions at other grade levels are: Primary – Emily Gash, Grade 1, Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Corner Brook; Elementary – Amanda Ned-Enwereuzo, Grade 5, Mary Queen of the World, Mount Pearl; and Senior High – Alyssa Byrne, Grade 12, St. Kevin’s High School, Goulds.
Prizes are also awarded in 5 regions. The regional winners are: Avalon – Eva Barnes, Grade 10, Anchor Academy, St. John’s; Eastern – Brooke Peach, Grade 6, Southwest Arm Academy, Little Heart’s Ease; Central – Kate Pierce, Grade 3, St. Joseph’s Elementary, Harbour Breton; Western – Lexi White, Grade 7, Corner Brook Intermediate, Corner Brook; and Labrador – Amber Lethbridge, Grade 7, Henry Gordon Academy, Cartwright.
