It has been a white winter in metro to say the least. It seems there has been a storm nearly every week but the last two have been exceptionally snowy and windy.
Gander meteorologist Rodney Barney says St. John’s has received 328 cm of snow so far this winter, about 50 per cent more than the standard by this time of year. It has been even snowier in Gander with 434 cm so far.
Totals from the latest winter storm; appreciate the help from the volunteers out there as usual. YKWYA 🙂
Also of note, 328 cm so far this season at St. John’s #YYT; 434 cm Gander West. About 40-60% more than the avg for this point in the season.https://t.co/mwL7zsIEAA #nlwx pic.twitter.com/u4CA2PtMgo

Now the attention shifts to Sunday into Monday, according to Environment Canada Meteorologist Dale Foote.
“For Sunday and the Monday, we have that trough again that’s coming down over parts of the Central and the Great Northern Peninsula for Saturday,” he told VOCM News.
“It’s going to continue down Saturday night into Sunday for the rest of the island as a low-pressure center passes to the southeast of the Avalon. Now, the degree to which they interact is still up near, but there will be periods of snow continuing through East Coast and down to the Avalon.”
