The city of St. John’s will soon start construction work on a new roundabout, and there will be long-term impacts on a busy stretch of road.

The roundabout is going in at the intersection of Portugal Cove Road, Airport Heights Drive, and Major’s Path. It is the final phase of a multi-year roads project.

During construction, one lane of traffic will be open in both directions on Portugal Cove Road at all times.

On Major’s Path and Airport Heights Drive, one lane will be open in each direction during peak hours (7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) but at other times traffic may be reduced to one shared lane.

The work, which is expected to start April 13th, will continue through to the end of the year.
