A sold-out crowd in Kelligrews saw the defending champs pushed to the limit, but the Deer Lake Red Wings prevailed in overtime. The Wings scored in the extra frame for a 2-1 victory and a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
That means the Herder final switches to the west coast next weekend. The Conception Bay South Blues will have to win at least two games send the series back to Kelligrews.
