A Liberal MHA says Danny Williams should take his own advice and “shut up and go away.”
Williams told reporters this week that stopping the Upper Churchill MOU was his greatest achievement, however Energy critic Fred Hutton says squandering the MOU with Hydro Quebec was a mistake.
He says the deal was yet to be finalized, and reaching an agreement would have gone a long way to address the debt owed on Muskrat Falls.
“It’s a little bit rich for him to be giving advice on hydro dams when we are left with a project that almost bankrupted Newfoundland and Labrador” Hutton told VOCM Open Line. “We’ve got to pay for Muskrat Falls, (and) one of the ways to do is to develop the Lower Churchill.”
Hutton says it would be best for Williams to follow his own advice.
“When he was in power, he said ‘it’s pretty sad when former premiers comment on current administrations…and ‘former premiers should shut up and go away’ and I think he should take his own advice.”
