Premier Tony Wakeham says he reached out to new Quebec premier Christine Frechette the morning after she won the leadership race.
Frechette replaces former premier Francois Legault as leader of the Coalition Avenir Quebec mere months before an election has to take place in that province.
Current polling indicates government will change hands when that happens, but whether that would mean having the Parti Quebecois or the Liberals in power remains to be seen as they are both neck-and-neck in the polls.
In the interim, once the review of the Churchill Falls MOU is complete, Wakeham will have to negotiate with the Frechette government.
He says the MOU did come up in their initial conversation.
He says she respects the review process they are going through, and he looks forward to working with her once the process is finished.
