Spring thaw usually means a trickier time navigating trailways on your ATV.
Snowmelt and the frost coming out of the ground means that tracks and wood roads are soft and muddy, increasing the chance of bogging down or causing damage.
Rick Noseworthy of Newfoundland T’Railways says receding snow can also expose significant damage that’s been hidden for months.
He’s urging caution for anyone heading out for the first time this year.
“When the snow melts, we don’t know what’s underneath it, you know, what we’re dealing with…(including) washouts.”
