Environment Canada has issued a yellow snowfall warning for the Avalon Peninsula after upgrading snowfall amounts expected this weekend.
A total of 15-20 cm is in the offing for the Avalon starting Friday afternoon and ending Saturday morning.
Winds will not be particularly strong but the snow will be wet and heavy as it mixes with rain on Saturday.
Environment Canada is warning area residents and travelers to plan for conditions to deteriorate quickly as the system moves through.
