The songwriter behind the classic “Sonny’s Dream” was recognized in the House of Assembly last week.
The family and friends of Ron Hynes were invited to the public gallery as tribute was paid to the legendary Man of A Thousand Songs by the MHA for Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi, Sheilagh O’Leary, who outlined his many achievements.
“From his time as a founding member of The Wonderful Grand Band, to his professional accolades, including an honourary doctorate from Memorial University, Juno Awards, East Coast Music Awards, a SOCAN Lifetime Achievement Award, and a posthumous induction into the Canadian Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.”
