Home Again Furniture Bank is hosting its annual Heads Without Beds fundraiser – challenging people to spend one night without their beds so that others don’t have to.
The director of fund development for the Home Again Furniture Bank, Sonya Smith, says furniture poverty is a real issue, and when people are concentrating on food and shelter, furniture is often well down on the list of priorities.
She says a comfortable bed and basic furniture can make a big difference in a person’s life.
She says last year they delivered furniture to more than 600 families on the northeast Avalon, and 594 deliveries included beds.
The Big Sleepout takes place on May 22nd. Individuals and groups are invited to join in the all ages event by registering ahead of time.
