One of the world’s biggest stars in Drag is going to be in St. John’s as part of Pride celebrations next month.
Jimbo, a Canadian designer and drag performer who was featured in Canada’s Drag Race, and won the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, bills herself as a “drag clown.”
She says it’s “about bigger, bigger and more, more. It’s about big proportions, big looks, and (it’s) rooted in comedy and connection. My specialty is in improv and in connection with an audience, and that’s the foundation of clowning. It’s about being present and connected and being a conduit for your audience.”
Speaking from Berlin in character and in full costume, she believes Drag brings people together.
“People really gravitate towards those that are authentic and that are living their best life because not everyone really gets a chance to do that. So, I think it’s inspiring for people to see drag and for them to see other people living their truth, and being extra and having a good time.”
