The provincial government is providing the Foster Families Association with funds to hire an additional staff member to help them identify foster care needs – particularly in Labrador.
Executive Director Kelli Hodder says a fourth staff person will allow them to spend more time in Labrador and Indigenous communities to identify needs and recruit more foster families.
“We make a point of going to the north coast, meeting with foster parents up there, doing recruitment activities, and of course we all know the cost of travel to Labrador is extremely expensive, so getting this extra funding, an additional staff person will allow us to do that more frequently.”
