A centenarian and one of the province’s last surviving WWII veterans has passed away.
Johnny Pauls of Spaniard’s Bay was 102.
A long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Pauls was born in Roncontre East on the province’s south coast and served in the Merchant Navy in WWII.
He settled in his wife’s native Spaniard’s Bay after marriage and became a fixture in the town, and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for more than 75 years.
The funeral service will take place on Monday from Holy Redeemer Anglican Church in Spaniard’s Bay.
