A melodic library is getting a big boost in support.

The Katie Sullivan Instrument Library has just announced a new collection will be added to the library; The John Hutton Instrument Collection for Young Musicians.

Created with John’s wife, Caron Hawco, the initiative will provide free musical instruments to youth in this province who otherwise couldn’t afford them.

Spokesperson Jennie Massey says as part of the broader Instrument Library, each piece included in the collection will be provided with a special label honouring Hutton’s musical legacy in this province.

A celebration of life will be held at 8:00 tonight at The JAG Soundhouse in St. John’s, with proceeds going towards the project.
