The Registered Nurses’ Union says it’s pleased with the turnout of elected officials to a Safe Staffing Saves breakfast held yesterday in St. John’s.
The union brought together MHAs of all political stipes for a discussion of safe staffing in health care, nurse retention and solutions to help stabilize the system.

The RNU says it welcomed comments from MHAs who recognized that nurse retention must be part of an real staffing solution, and the need to identify safe staffing numbers for nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and timely care.
Among the solutions being sought by the Registered Nurses Union are public travel teams, a comprehensive core staffing review, an investment in nursing students and publicly funded nurse practitioners.
