St. John’s Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth is speaking out after questions were raised about a Code of Conduct investigation launched against Councillor Tom Davis.
Davis was suspended from council for a month, with pay, as a result of the workplace investigation.
Ron Ellsworth identified himself as the complainant at last week’s council meeting.
Former council candidate Walter Harding took to Facebook this week, asking about the cost of investigations involving Ron Ellsworth.
The deputy mayor came out swinging, saying the real question is not “what did the investigation cost?” but “what is the cost of not investigating workplace harassment?”
He says taxpayers are not served when “toxic environments are allowed to continue unchecked” and “they are not served when accountability is treated as optional.”
For his part, Davis says he’s looking forward to undergoing respectful workplace training and then getting back to the business of serving the people of the city, including Ward 4.
